Opportunistic misapplication of copyright law imo, like most of these things intended for a go away quickly please type of settlement.
News Story here:
I found this quite interesting. I can see *why* they say she copied it but as a barebones song I can hear several songs that one could argue that it is constructed from;
To my ears, the first two lines are Streets of London ending in a cadence popularised by the Beatles in "In my life". The third line is Just the Two of Us. The Bridge is from Londonderry Air (I think).
It's a bit generic and bland and she really needs to work on her enunciation. The point though is that it's songwriting. IMHO It isn't plagiarism if bits of your songs sound like bits of other peoples songs. It's like the Da Vinci estate trying to sue over a portrait of a woman with a wonky smile.
In this case it just feels a bit lazy and ill thought out. If I was marking it, I'd send it back with a C and a lot of suggestions for rewriting.
1650 ish.
Blimey - respect! I was thinking mid-1920s...
Who knows this one? I didn't, and I'd not have guessed the date (sshhh if you do and did!)

Too easy.
Too easy.
For some.
For the likes of me....again, pre-war? 1928. Some cheery Belgian or Rooskie perhaps.
Atchully, an 1898 woodcut by Edvard Munch, he of The Scream (1893). I thought it looked much more modern.
