I must admit I find tribalism like this utterly baffling, and this seems to be tribalism within tribalism. Maybe I'm missing a gene, or something, similar to people who find sprouts bitter and disgusting.
I have no problem with fans supporting their team, I have a family member and you just can't talk to him about football in all other respects he's quite normal. It's the flares that they bring into the stadiums, it's ridicules what added enjoyment does that add to the game. It's the same with cycling, you get IMO idiots setting of flares and the rides inevitably have to ride through it, it's a hard enough sport without these inconsiderate a***holes. If it was up to me I ban then from ever attending any race/game ever again. Failing that snipers on the high points.

Looks even worse for Man City now details have been released.
They also continue to double down.

Expell them from the Premier League, and the Football League should refuse them membership.

£830 million fraud, so alternatively 83 point deduction for then next 10 seasons they are in any league?

It's analogous in duration and influence on the integrity of the league to Rangers. Who were sent right to the equivalent of League 2.

It's also looking like City will be sued to buggery by half of the clubs they played against.

I feel bad for Noel Gallagher.

Actually I dont, the smug twat.

If anything remotely similar happens to Man City I'll be amazed.

Nobody really gives a f*ck about Scottish football (other than the fans who actually support the clubs), but there's so much invested in England that sacrificing one of their big guns ain't gonna happen.

Not sure how far the premier league will go, but the flip side is that if they don't give a massive deterrent the legal implications could be equally severe. As could the commercial ones.

It would be a surprise if there was not a relegation. I personally think the league titles should be removed. This could be done without awarding them to someone else. For precedent see 1999-2005 TdF.

You can't compare cycling to football.

You were alright with Rangers. The other closest team would be Juventus.

Relegation is tricky. The trouble is that you will be punishing players now for the actions of the owners 10 years ago.
I suspect it will be a 40-50 point deduction, which will be just enough to keep them in the prem.

There is no easy answer, but I do predict a relegation. And/or a points.penalty each year for several years that precludes Champoins League football via the league.

There are 20-30 other wealthy clubs with a grievance and a slap on the wrist won't satisfy any of them.

However not this year, because the City Group will continue to spend tens of millions on legal obfuscation.

The corrosive effect on signings will begin immediately, however. The clubs denials are starting to sound increasingly, let's say, Russian.

They've lost Guardiola (not a coincidence I dont think) and now players will be seeking relegation clauses and/or much higher wages. Partly that's because Guardiola was such a draw. Partly these players will want to play in the Champions League and have short careers.

Let's face it, this is financial doping and is distinct from self earned club wealth and player purchases from the likes of Arsenal, United historically, Liverpool etc. Aside from anything else, historically any club could do it (and several did, sometimes to their own cost, e.g. Leeds). Whereas now most clubs are following the rules.

The Chelski project was a warning sign and City are the result.

The Newcastle project is what state aid should look like under the rules, whereas City literally spent £1Bn when they should have been able to spend a quarter of that. They are still benefitting from the advantage that gave them.

Even as someone totally bemused and uninterested by football, I had wondered how Man City had become so dominant never having had such a profile before, as far as I was aware.

Well they basically had UK state aid as well, by being given a stadium no one has any use for. Other clubs had to spend hundreds of million or more on theirs. Add the billion or so they've tried to hide and they've had more investment than Real Madrid was worth at the time.

I'm sure the Man City supporters would be happy to support the other Manchester football team, wouldn't they, if Man City were wound up, as a suitable punishment?
