I'm sure the Man City supporters would be happy to support the other Manchester football team, wouldn't they, if Man City were wound up, as a suitable punishment?

They won't be wound up. Things will continue more or less unchanged except for a blip for a year or two.

Long term I am perplexed. The City project is sports washing. But now it is dirty and no amount of protestation will change that if the appeals fail.

In which case, why would the nation of the UAE bother? There are loads of othwr ways to spend money. On F1 for example. Or purchasing major sporting events.

I am starting to wonder what othwr European clubs will do. Sonlme will have lost to City in competitions City shouldn't have been in. Others will have lost out on players because City bought them with money they shouldn't have had.

I jest, of course, but given the scale of the fraud on football and Man City supporters, it wouldn't strike me as overly disproportionate.

Relegation is tricky. The trouble is that you will be punishing players now for the actions of the owners 10 years ago.
I suspect it will be a 40-50 point deduction, which will be just enough to keep them in the prem.

The players will simply move. Or, down tools then be moved on.
As posted above the EPL should look at Glasgow Rangers and Juventus. Can't remember what happened to Monaco.

I think there's a strong chance of expulsion (not relegation) from the Premier League, coupled with a very hefty fine. The fine really needs to be well in excess of the financial doping figure, and that will most likely go into a pot to be distributed to the clubs that have been impacted by this (so possibly 30 or so clubs), on the basis that they will then not bring separate actions against City. Additionally the stripping of their PL titles.

It's then up to the Football League to decide if they want to accept City into one of their leagues, and whether they then apply a points deduction.

A points deduction by the Premier League would just be weak given the magnitude of the financial doping.

The current players have benefitted from this too - Man City wouldn't have continued to be so successful since 2018 without the legacy built up during the period in quation.
As you say, they will be in demand from other clubs so won't be hit in the pocket. How many are die hard City fans anyway? most are just there for the potential trophies and pay packet.

Apart from the clubs knocked out of competitions or beaten in the league by City, I wonder if individual players from both England and wider Europe will take action against them . . . there's a fair argument that many would have progressed further in the champions league, won the premier league/FA Cup etc and, having been denied that, their potential earnings (bonuses, salary, endorsements, transfer income etc) has been affected.

If they are bumped to league 2, other clubs would benefit from their presence. So i dont knownhownmuch push back there would be. They'd also need to comply with the EFLs FFP rules, in light of their actual income. Hard to tell which sponsors would stick by them, but you would assume anything UAE based. However the higher up in the leagues they go, the more restrictive to a a rebuild FFP would be.
