Looking like Trump's honestly full circle, now back to him and Putin sitting down together and sharing the spoils. Ukraine's involvement mainly to hand over resources of any value and disappear.

And meanwhile EU/UK's previous tough last of "before Monday" (that's last Monday), seems to have gone rather quiet whilst Putin carries on unhindered.

Ian

Didn't Trump issue a similar deadline weeks ago which was summarily ignored? He's being played like a fish for sport.
EU/UK are no better but at least they are more discreet. Any threats and Putin's actions say "Meh, what you gonna do about it?".

To my thinking the EU/UK are making themselves look weak, highlighting their own lack of commitment. They issued an ultimatum for last Monday, Putin didn't do what was required so 1st thing Tuesday morning they should have announced new massive sanctions.

To most I suspect Putin playing games manipulating leaders is blindingly obvious just as it's clear he doesn't want to stop the war. So why are all these supposedly smart national leaders continually falling for Putin's games?

To my mind they are all weak and simply full of bluster in the hope that someone will fall for it.
The only person not to so far is Zelensky.

The reasons are simple. Too many vested interests and nobody really wants to consider the ultimate step.

The daft thing about it is they all undoubtedly have important/crucial things to do at home eg Govern their own countries yet they waste their time taking train rides, meetings, photo ops, etc. and all to demonstrate how weak they are to the world and to reasdure Putin how easily they can be ignored.

Aren't they smart enough to realist how daft they are being? Why spend time making threats you know you won't actually carry out and know Putin will ignore and in so doing just tell everybody your ultimatums are just empty threats that can just be ignored.

We need smarter leaders.

Looks like Ukraine have just launched a massive air strike on Russia.
Will this bring Putin to the table?

Well, it might be a bit more devious than that...

Even sweeter that there's Ukrainian drone footage of dozens of the bombers burning very nicely. Looks pretty surgical.

Interesting they didn’t tell the White House the plan. Unsurprising, shows the trust has gone.

And they got as far as Siberia and the Arctic circle.
Quite the operation.

Thoughts go to the brave truck driver who has been caught.

Edit: Although Tass has reported this, Zelensky says that the Ukrainians were withdrawn from Russia in time.

Yes the truck drivers weren't in or aware of it, but once again not only did they rumoredly destroy near all tupolev bombers, after some high profile assassination's during this years they now also showed not only they can hit Russia where they want but they can do so using their infrastructure.

I've not seen any reports about how widely this attack has been reported within Russia. For me interesting as it's recently been reported from several reporters based in Israel how Isareli TV carries no images of the plight of the Gaza palestinian civillians, nothing of the destruction, all out of sight out of mind.
