Ukrainian drones struck an oil refinery in Kirishi, in Russia's Leningrad region, overnight Oct. 4, sparking a fire that was later extinguished, Ukraine's General Staff has said.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing the fire break out at the Kirishi refinery. Regional Governor Alexander Drozdenko confirmed the drone attack and fire but did not identify the facility, adding the fire had been extinguished.
The attack follows weeks of intensified Russian strikes against Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
Nearly 40,000 Belgorod residents were left without electricity after the strike, which caused significant damage across seven municipalities, according to Gladkov.
"We listened to a report from energy officials on the nature of the damage caused by the nighttime shelling of Belgorod. We have significant damage," he said. "Scope of work will be significant."

I wonder if damage to Russia would be having a very different impact than eg comparable damage to Ukraine. Ukraine is defending itself and has no choice but to fight on or succumb to Putin ruling them. However Russians can regard it as a something remote that really doesn't impact them and no real threat. But that "doesn't impact and no real threat" gets harder for Putin to maintain as Russian deaths reach such levels, as the economic impacts bite and when fuel refineries burst into flames and petrol prices shoot up, etc. I'd expect that a given event might have a more significant impact in Russia than in Ukraine.

Probably but reading this thread over the last few months I'm amazed Russia hasn't caved in and asked Ukraine what it will take to stop them being attacked as it seems so one sided a war.

If Ukraine continues to compromise production of the above, Russia becomes weaker by the day.
Yes, I know I pick and mix news from this conflict but I am quite happy to jump on the propaganda bandwagon.
What isn't propaganda? One news source is controlled by the state and the other news sources are pro-Ukrainian so what I tend to do is report on news that is verified across more than one media.

True, russia has been advancing, and will have completely conquered Ukraine within 700 years. Russia would probably have sued bfor peace by now, but like most dictators, he doesn't really have a viable retirement plan if the war doesn't end favourably.
