This all feels rather tipping pointish, doesn't it? Army being reduced in size quicker than they can recruit, man/woman on the street feeling more confident in expressing doubt, newspapers publishing bad news, oil refineries on fire, SAM sites almost non-existent.

I think not only can Russia not win this war, it seems to me it's time for another breakup. They do tend to do it from time to time.

It will fracture and the long term outlook s bleak.

Tuapse oil terminal hit again. This, after the Russians managed to put the fire out after 4 days.
The significance of this is missed - especially in this part of the forum, so I am going to ask the question:
Why is this significant? Obvious answers will be given minus Brownie points.
Looks like the Ukrainians are hell bent on destroying the oil terminal and storage facilities. It's been burning for the best part of 2 weeks.

  • 3 Russian black sea ships hit overnight in Crimea (for those still wondering why there's not enough action in Crimea and the Kherson bridge hasn't been demolished). You can Google the Russian black sea fleet bingo board for reg'la updates.
  • $60m gone. Russian air early warning system in Belgorod oblast as Ukraine's anti air hunt continues.
  • Ukrainian drones penetrated reinforced missile bunkers holding Russian Iskander systems in occupied Crimea for those wondering why there's not enough action in Crimea and why the Kherson bridge hasn't been hit. https://euromaidanpress.com/2026/04...rike-iskander-missile-storage-site-in-crimea/
  • Special midweek wall poster of another locomotive being hit as Ukrainian drones are wiping out rail stock as this is critical to supplying Russia's military:

  • Ukraine escalates pressure on occupied Luhansk, striking multiple Russian bases and supply points in coordinated operation [Euromaidan Press]

"...sometimes also known as naïve monarchism, is a Russian political phenomenon in which positive actions taken by the Russian government are viewed as being the result of the leader of Russia, while negative actions taken by the government are viewed as being caused by lower-level bureaucrats."
A continuation of the Russian slave mentality which has been in the psyche for hundreds of years.
  • Russian soldiers are very happy about being supplied with 'ant-drone guns':

  • Putin's sacred May 9th parade will take place without Putin and without military hardware.

One gets the feeling that Ukraine is making the most of the not-winter weather and the challenges of surviving Russian's strikes on energy infrastructure. They do appear to have got their shit together and have a plan that goes well beyond defensive.

Hopefully no crazy Ivans, that's what worries me.
From a selfish POV, the demise of Russia won't impact my personal pension.

Yes, an a breakdown of a Country the size of Russia, with various armed groups vying for power, would not be good.

Hopefully, an orderly transition occurs, when/if the time comes.

Actually, a few commentators wondering if he meant Iran rather than Ukraine, given the word-salad context:

"I think, Ukraine, militarily they’re defeated, ok, you wouldn’t know that by reading the fake news but militarily, look their navy, so they had 159 ships, every ship is right now underwater. typically that’s pretty good."
