Also probably in Zelenskyy/Ukraine's interests that the Russian parade goes ahead. I guess it will be televised and the majority of the population notice the reduced drama, no tanks, weapons, etc. They've seen previous years, are suffering the impacts of the war and now seeing it's having an big impact on what high profile events and put on display.

Does this mean that Putin's Donnie's request for a ceasefire has been ignored?
It could just be that my definition of ceasefire is outdated. Certainly seems to be the case as I look around the world.

On the day the ceasefire was supposed to start at Putin's request (May 6), Russia struck a kindergarten and killed a teacher plus other drone strikes. Zelensky kept his tradition of not striking or attempting to strike anything within Moscow during the patrade but did not stop striking targets. Seems perfectly fair.
Don't forget the genocide -110,000 people killed in Mariupol for example.

Well, look who was in attendance of the 2006 May 9 parade's inlcuding most EU member state presidents and George dubblya. This years dignitary list was paltry.

Undoubtably fair.
Seems that my definition of ceasefire is out of date. 😉

It's an interesting dynamic at this stage - Ukraine turning into an asset for Western security.

I'm wondering what need there will be for this 'Western Security' when the Russian threat has disintegrated.
My hope is that Trump or his administration is no longer in office and Russia as we know it is dead in the event Fagash got voted in to number 10. Some would say that is a bit obscure, but it isn't.
Until the funders of right wing ideology/popularism are reigned in, we can expect this constant barrage of mis-information and propaganda but without Russians, at least that's one source less (and one less source of funding).

Though maybe this time it might be wise of Western powers not to declare that Russia will never be a threat and spend all the 'peace dividend' on fluffy toys and candyfloss.
