@briantrumpet (which should keep him happy). This is a picture of the Kherson bridge in 2o23 when a fuel tanker exploded. Ukraine didn't claim this but since then, there has been little heavy traffic on the bridge since. There's something wrong with it but nobody knows what.

Before some good stuff, the not so good stuff.

Russia's only advantage over Ukraine in this conflict is one particular type of cruise missile. The only effective defence is Patriot missiles. Zelensky has been requesting Trump sign off an agreement that Ukraine can purchase or produce these missiles under license from the producers Lockheed Martin and RTX. No movement there unfortunately. Ukraine is trying to make their own version but this process is slow. This means that a number of them get through to mainly Kyiv during Russia's nightly bombardment.
The nightly figures of all the things thrown at Ukraine's capitol are way down but still cause fatalities.

Option 3...

Last night Ukraine struck the Antipinsky oil refinery, wait for it... 2000km's from Ukraine. This refinery produced 9 million tons of oil per annum. This means that almost nothing is now out of reach. One can hope that Ukraine can take out the various faculties that produce the drones and missiles.

[I cannot keep up here. I doubt Pootin can either]
BBC News last night showed footage of the attacks on St Petersburg. Err, 5 days late and the report was lacking context and the significance of the fact. But anyway, that's just a distraction, back to it:

It's very hard to capture the scale of this bonfire:

uk119.png

  • Russian holiday makers stuck in Crimea due to fuel shortages
  • Poor St Petersburg, it's getting hit again. This pesky Ukrainian drone operators don't know when to give up

  • Residents of St Petersburg were ordered to stay indoors and the internet was cut off. Obviously, Pootin doesn't want coverage of this but before it was cut off, people were filming, bemoaning hours and hours of ammunition being detonated as the storage facilities burned with windows shaking and constant noise.

  • Farmers are moaning because they cannot get any fuel so that they can... do farming
  • Ust-Labinsk Oil Depot is on fire 500 miles from Ukraine having been struck last night
  • Huge food shortages in Crimea with purchases being rationed

Difficult to form a view of the SPIEF as none of the reports I've seen inspire confidence in balance.

Too many reporters (sadly incl, BBC) seem to focus on recognisable celebrities eg Steven Seagal, Candace Owens and Trump’s ballroom commissioner, Andrew Tate, etc. none of whom are going to be providing investment or even inspiring others to invest.

But maybe the behind the scenes investors did attend or maybe it was just a few high profile celebrities who think attending can get their names or podcasts more clicks. Impossible to form a view from available reports.

Regardless, it's a much diminished event and the drone strikes, humiliating.

Putin and subsequently, Lavrov were talking about gains made on the front line and that the Russians are advancing and there's an inevitable Russian victory on the horizon. That ultimately, they will win blah blah blah.
Where once the propaganda carried menace and threats, the propaganda is laughable to the extent it appears that the hierarchy are punch drunk and in a state of denial of the reality so they continue to do what they always have done, dress it up in spin and go away to drink copious quantities of Vodka whilst listening to Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture.

Putin even declared that the Oreshnik missile strike on some lock up garages in a small town not far from Kyiv was an experiment speaking at the no Economy conference above ^. There's a YT video done by the Ukrainian bloke that owned and rented out the garages mocking Putin saying... '...there was no military trucks in this one... and there was no Ukrainian soldiers here...'.
