Meanwhile, Russia has no new ideas, just carrying on killing civilians to try to terrorise the population. They appear not to realise that it's not going to work, however beastly they are.

Sad I know and such is this damn war but Russia was chucking some 600+ drones and missiles towards Ukraine, many at Kyiv, on a daily basis for a long while through winter.

Southern Ukraine may now become the conflict's decisive theater. Around Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, Ukrainian forces continue applying pressure where logistics and geography intersect, while drone operations have steadily reduced russia's opportunities of movement along the Dnipro.

Yes, loosing Crimea is hugely symbolic as mentioned up thread.

That's a crock of sentimental, almost romantic sh*t. Putin posed an existential threat to Ukraine. Putin waged war on ego and brutal expansionism. One side has a genuine cause, the other: a pay cheque. The latter, including mercenaries, have been instrumental historically.
I would say both are bad comparisons, as Ukraine not only manages so far to defeat Russia but also doing so preventing as much as possible civilian targets. Both Taliban and Viet-con had no such restraintsOne could point to Vietnam and Afghanistan.
Alternative tactics against a far superior opposition with more might, and more money.

sorry my bad, absolutely agree on the last line.Point was referring to posts above about money.
Avoiding civilian casualties is a sign of higher morals.
