It means that you willingly and in some ways unknowingly give away vast tracts of data about yourself, let alone your movements, where and when you go and with whom.

Seems a bit pointless worrying about the remaining stuff.

If you mean that the global data companies use data in ways that are outwith their published policies I believe you. It makes me even less enthusiastic about embedding them in the fabric of state services.
