If there's an 'actor' in adult entertainment that doesn't use that name I'll be very disappointed.

I'll let you research that one! 😂

Can't the F2F with the King be done via video link?
Or just stopped as Royalty's role is just to approve what is put in front of it for nothing beyond virtually ceremonial purposes.

We live in a democracy and our elected representatives should be spending their time working for us not some unelected individual whose role is to sign what's put in front of them.

Don’t have a problem with that, I am no royalist

I know The Crown is a drama but much of it is based on recorded fact. The weekly audience is immensely valuable to both.

Maybe less so with Charles but Elizabeth had a vast 'corporate memory' and I suspect her advice to PMs was greatly appreciated.

Really?

The residents of Manchester, Leeds and other locations may dispute that

I spent a chunk of career #1 with responsibility for organising conferences, events and 'Awaydays' etc. and stand by what I said.

Have you tried to get to Leeds, or Durham for that matter, from Cardiff or Cornwall by public transport? It used to be possible to fly there from other places but apart from Belfast and possibly a tourist oriented weekly service to Newquay it no longer has domestic flights.

Birmingham is close to the centre of England and sits astride NE/SW etc rail services and has connections in all directions.

I suspect that protocol is less and less important as populism has become more and more important.
There is no point in arguing which party is the most populist, they are all chasing the same votes, with more or less the same tactics.

The annual work conference I attend was moved to Manchester from Birmingham to make it easier (lots of delegates from Scotland and up north found Birmingham too much hassle apparently). I found both pretty simple to get to by public transport from South Wales although Birmingham was obviously quicker. I’ve also done Leeds regularly for work, it’s a bit more hassle as it needs a change at Birmingham but still pretty simple. They are all generally a lot cheaper than travelling to London although London is up there for simplicity I’d agree.

And, if they do get in, they immediately fall asleep.

All that effort getting the door open. Maybe the cost of the refurb will include seats like in First Class on planes that convert to beds.

I've said before, they should build a modern parliament building even if it stays in London. It could have University style campus accommodation so that they don't have to pay MPs for accommodation, modern offices for staff and it would be much easier to keep MPs and staff safe (probably at a significantly lower cost). Move all the Whitehall and Downing Street funcrions there too and sell off the existing buildings as that would raise a huge amount to cover the costs of the new building. Sell of the current HoP and renovate them commercially like they did with County Hall.

Too logical.
I shared that premise during the expenses scandal. Does that go as far back as Blair & Brown?
