Just that MAGA cunt. I have experienced feeling genuine, unmitigated hate for somebody only once in my lifetime, and it was the most all-consuming, corrosive and potentially catastrophic emotional experience I have ever had.

I'm confused by this.

Across both forums both "CXRAndy" accounts have different avatars, while one is in Lincoln UK and appears to behave like a reasonable human being, the other appears to hold very a right-wing-nationalist-nutjob position and offer nothing but propagandist MAGA slop.

Are we sure they're the same user? Are usernames and avatars automatically transferred from CC to NCAP and can they be changed independently? Is it possible to join NCAP without having a CC account? Is it possible that the NCAP account is the result of a bot hijacking Andy's legit CC account for access?

Can a designated forum grown-up please chip on on this - @Pat "5mph" ...?

The avatar in use on here by them, was used on both forums. But his and a few others were deemed political, and they were reverted to no avatars. Forum software used the first letter of their username instead.

Early August 2024, they deleted their account on here, becoming Deleted member 159. Until january last year, when they opened a second account on here, under the same username.
They have however denied opening any accounts, so you could be correct on the bot bit.

or he does not hold such views but just finds expressing them winds up others, gets him attention, makes him feel people are taking notice of him. Posting moderate sensible balance supportable with fact posts would not get him the same attention and number of replies (all be those "replies" along the "totally untrue", "complete twaddle", "official statistics say the opposite", ...)

Sometimes people adopt the stance/behaviour that gets them the attention they so desperately seek.
I have no idea, just suggesting another possibility.

This is a decent read on trolling - taking the psychological angle. You can draw your own conclusions, but it seems pretty spot-on to me.

You don't find the subject interesting? As much as anything I find the psychology of those replying just as intriguing.

I think my interest started (for those with long memories) with Manc33 over on Cake Stop: he was a genius troll, never (?) malicious or insulting, and not political (IIRC), but he had the art of drawing people into insane discussions about the shape of the earth of the laws of physics, and intelligent people would be trying to use facts (and established science) to persuade him that he was wrong (rather than just nuts). He knew just how to press buttons, I (probably wrongly) convinced myself that he was a proper scientist who knew just how to wind up sensible people.

It was rather delightful seeing just how he could draw people in, without them really realising that they'd been drawn in and then not being able to stop making 'just one more point'...

I think there are all sorts of reasons why people post as they do; readers can engage or not engage as they see fit. I don't see the point saying you won't engage but then asking what the person you have on ignore has said or posting about not engaging.

I'm always surprised how little engagement posts get on Bluesky. Perhaps that accounts for it. Everybody has blocked everybody else.
