Utter nonsense, given intent is not a factor in the assessment of serious foul play. It wouldn't have been done for any other player of any other team in this or any other tournament.

Makes me wonder if the refereeing will even be fair.

Any fool can see that Trump has twisted the ear of Infantino, Infantino is as bent as they come with absolute zero integrity. It's referees who decide who gets sent off and if it's in question we have VAR.
What's next, USA gets beat and Infantino 2 hours later says no, the win is for USA? 😂😂😂

It was never serious foul play,

The referee got it totally wrong
Justice is done in the innocent player is not punished wrongly
Who mentioned intent other than you? Not sure what you are trying to twist this debate to

As posted on Tuesday... Not VAR in this instance but manipulation none the less.

I predict the heavy hand of VAR (or absence as applicable) should it look like the US are going to lose.

How do you think it would go if (say) one of our top players was red-carded and Starmer called Infantino to make the problem go away?

Just a bit of critical thinking folks, that's all you need to figure this out.

other than nearly breaking someone's ankle, he barely touched him.

I feel sorry for Scotland fans, they've supported 6 different teams so far in this tournament but they've only seen one win.

Well we now have that option.
And we desperately need defenders.

Caught the highlights on BBC news this morning and couldn't have been properly awake as I'm sure they showed Mexico scoring first so when they then showed the Mexican penalty I assume it was going to miss.

England hold out 10 men against 13.

Having only seen said highlights I'm intrigued by this comment. Did you feel the officials were biased? From what I saw the red card was as clear as it gets and the penalty was a penalty. Not sure if there were other decisions that were more dubious though?

Having been cycling for a week or so, I inadvertently found myself in a pub with a big screen for the Engerland v DRC match. When (from memory) Engerland went ahead I found myself rooting for plucky DRC to equalise. I left before that happened, but I gather the match got a bit exciting.
And now Engerland have apparently prolonged the agony by winning against Mexico. When's the first mountain stage?

It can’t be easy reffing in that atmosphere.

What is interesting was that VAR suddenly became active in this game for the penalty and red card. The penalty was marginal IMO.

Where was VAR in the France Paraguay game? It’s the inconsistency that is the problem.
