Well yes-and-no; it was before I was born, but they DID have TV cameras and a recording system (punched cards? VHS? ). As a result there have been many many replays over the decades. I can't - off the top of my head - visualise any world-cup final goals from any final other than '66.

Many years ago, I had a German work colleague. Inevitably, there was some “banter”. His retort was almost always, “well, you may have won two world wars, but, remind me, how many world cups have you won”

Germany have only won 1 World Cup - same as England

Germany have 4 World Cups. Just because East Germany wasn't invited, doesn't make West Germany lesser than Germany.
Further - Germany have been in the final 8 times.

Brazil, Italy and Germany are the most successful countries with 13 titles and 12 second places between them.

In contrast England has 1 win, 2 semi finals and 8 quarter finals.
Brazil's form is astonishing - out of 22 world cups they have come in the top 4 for half of them, and won a quarter of them. They have only been eliminated in the round of 16 twice.

That's why I said yes-and-no ... Where do you draw the line? If I watch England on MOTD in the evening (a recording), then can I not say that I remember "it"?

Or what if I watch ENG-MEX on Monday over breakfast -without knowing the result??
