TBF, high altitude is considered above 2500m, so the Mexico City stadium is technically not affected by the issues we have been discussing.

Curious where you get 2,500 m from as a definition of the cut off.
In cycling it's well known that above 2,000 m some start to struggle, and passes over 2,000 m are considered high altitude roads.

From Wikipedia, apparently that's the maximum altitude before altitude sickness becomes an issue. Admittedly, altitude sickness is s more serious issue than loss of sporting performance.

Lib dems appear to be arguing that we need a licence extension for the England Mexico match so that pubs can profit. Enjoyment? Even patriotism (god forbid)? No, profit.

Wilkinson said in the House of Commons: "Pubs will miss out on a real opportunity to get money in the till if ministers do not make a blanket extension for licensing hours."

So of these 88 matches Mexico played in the current stadium, have the opposition been observed puffing and wheezing? IAMFI!

5am extension granted.
Not sure how many pubs will bother.

If England were bad enough that even a drug-riddled junkie could score against them they deserved to lose.

Exactly.

"Aww we wuz robbed off Maradona"

But at the same time

"Isn't Messi amazing?"

Even though he'd be the size of a child if he wasn't pumped full of EPO.

Similarly, bleating about home advantage when their 66 victory came when they played at Wembley for every game.

Sensible adults seem to lose all sense of rationality and proportion when they become supporters of any particular team. Pointless arguing with them.
