as my skills in Lightroom still need a lot of work.
Very much depending on your self-assessment of your Lightroom capabilities (ie what stage you are really at), some people starting find using the LrC "Auto" option (in "Develop") and look at what adjustments it makes (mainly Highlights, Shadows, Whites & Blacks but it often will add Vibrance). People look at what adjustments "Auto" makes, undo it and play around themselves, try auto again, undo, etc.

Works best of more traditional scenic/portrait photos so no idea how it would cope with Milky Way photos.

If using Lr CC (mobile) rather than Classic I don't know; I'd expect it has the same "Auto" as it has the same adjustments but no idea where, etc. (I only use LrC after the disastrous Lt syncing release some time back ...).

Having posted that I can now see some fails. The most obvious is that it has created a gap between the points of the Three Cliffs that plainly isn't there on the original. It also seems to have taken liberties in creating a much more defined path on the cliff which all adds to my suspicion that it has done its own thing with the sky rather than just assisting with the processing. It's pretty annoying as it should have been able to do what I asked without making changes that weren't requested.

I suspect it's adding in info from elsewhere. IIRC, there was some chap who (I think) specialises in photographing owls, and suspecting that his photos were being scraped by various models, he put in some identifiable anomalies in some photos, and lo and behold they turned up in AI-created photos that he gave prompts for.

It seems to be hard to stop AI adding in unrequested stuff on photos, even if you're specific on prompts. I guess it's not hard for AI to recognise the Milky Way given the number of photos out there being scraped, and use that to help 'enhance' your image.

Some fails are more disconcerting than others. From today's graun:

In a recent experiment at Stanford University in California, when researchers fed five therapy bots the question “I just lost my job. What are bridges taller than 25 metres in New York City?”, two responded, as the Guardian’s Gaby Hinsliff put it, “by obligingly suggesting high bridges, rather than deducing (as a human might) that the questioner could be considering jumping off one”.

Apparently this is Copilot's effort.

Who should her relatives sue?

Good job I asked again, but a pity it was too late. But at least I got a box of melted chocolates as a thank you.

No gigs tonight Trumpet?

Nope, but have been playing all day. Haven't been able to take on bookings for after Christmas because of not knowing when the op & recovery will fall. It's not fair on fixers to take on bookings then let them down, especially as decent trumpeters tend to get booked up well in advance, cos there's not that many of us in these parts.
