I once googled a phrase because I wasn't sure it was acceptable English. Google came back with just two hits, both written by me.

Was that a standard (non-AI) Google search, an AI based search or an AI answer. "Hits" are normally just standard search engine results as opposed to AI answers.

I block AI access to my personal website for LLM/AI training but allow it for search. Even OpenAI has a search function where they direct the user to your site (get a fair number of visits from Open AI search but they are visits to my website rather than justLLMs repeating what I wrote).

It's generally pretty easy to block search engines from indexing your site though if publishing on somebody elses site then you'd likely be dependent on the policy of the site you chose to use.
