Seems the new Robotaxi is rumoured to be actually the forgotten Tesla model 2.
It hints that there us no Robotaxi for a good while yet. The long term promise/semi scam might be to loan your car out when not in use.

I suppose if Trump wins the peasants will not matter for the 'great experiment'.
Apart from that it is very unlikely to happen as is.

The Model 2 isn't forgotten. It's slated to come out in Q2 of next year. The Cybercab appears to be a different vehicle. There is also a 3rd mystery vehicle being teased - possibly an electric van of some sort.

The big reveal is slated for 10th October.

That was in Tesla Master Plan part 2 in 2016. It's still on the roadmap as far as anyone knows.

"Once we demonstrate that something is safe enough or significantly safer than human, we find that regulators are supportive of deployment of that capability," Musk said in July.
...' Tesla's venture, in contrast, is a "general solution that works anywhere," Musk said bullishly. "It would work even on a different earth." '

Reality is "If Trump comes into power we can circumvent most safety regulations whilst granting an X-Truth Maga merger" ?
Trump Media itself is gaining value from its bottom low , it being a value gamble on Trump winning. Lose and it is worthless but win....

As I understand it, Trump will not lose out.
I believe Trump did not buy his shareholding, or if he did, it was at a nominal value. So even if the share price crashes, he would still benefit from disposing of his shareholding.
I suspect disposal pre the election may be politically unfavourable, because investors who have already seen the stock price collapse, may turn against him at the polling stations.

Holding the reveal on a film backlot seems fitting.

Select invites only. Musk has essentially banned the BBC.

Won't do him much good, even if he is only inviting sympathetic media outlets to the launch all the info about it will be out there sharpish.

After all the delays and the crock of sh!te that is the Cybertruck nothing short of a perfectly functioning vehicle is going to be acceptable. And even then Musk has done so much damage it's unlikely people are going to be falling over themselves to get one.

Why crock of sh!te? People seem to like them in the good ol USA.

Their sales do look good I suppose, but the dodgy accelerator pedal recall (and some other manufacturing issues I've seen reported) suggests they're cobbled together.

I suppose it helps that they've basically been marketed as a status symbol for the rich, rather than a sensible SUV/truck.

"Musk said that Cybercab is equipped with Tesla’s AI5 onboard computer and based on a visual check, it appears to only use cameras, like Tesla’s existing vehicles.
The CEO reiterated that the plan was still to make Full Self-Driving work unsupervised on the current vehicle, which he now thinks will happen next year in Texas and California.
To be fair, he said that it was going to happen next year virtually every year for the past 5 years"

Betting his whole house on a Trump win too, I imagine.
The robots have moved on big time. No man inside this time plus they can move left and right. Way off beta still.

Most accurate comment is 'Once they solve FSD, any Tesla is a robotaxi, and more desirable than this one. The only advantage is a lower price, which Musk has shown time and again is a fantasy.'
