This will take a while to digest.

Copious quantities of alcohol might help the digestion process, or at least temporarily help you forget what a batshittily stupid idea it is now and ever will be. Maybe getting mains gas just before the 21st century went to their heads.

Farage under investigation:

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage is under investigation by the parliamentary standards watchdog for a potential breach of MPs' rules on financial interests.

On Wednesday, the standards commissioner announced he is looking into a possible breach by Farage of rules which require MPs to list income and financial benefits within 28 days.

The inquiry was launched after a complaint by a member of the House of Lords, according to a spokesman for the Reform UK leader.

One for you @briantrumpet

I have a feeling at some point, years down the line perhaps, this is getting quashed. This is not a judgement of guilt/innocence on my part, more of a reflection on what appears to be increasingly unsound evidence.

Thanks. I suspect it's the same ground that has been covered at length by Phil Hammonds in Private Eye, but maybe it will have the same effect as the ITV drama did in the Post Office case.

It's one of the few Bluesky comments I've made that attracted any attention, when I prasied Hammonds for his doggedness: I was rounded on by a couple of people whose stridency in saying there were no doubts at all about her guilt were eyebrow-raising. As I've mentioned more than once, *if* there are doubts about the safety of her conviction (and there do seem to be several now), then it should be revisited - that's a long way from saying she's innocent.
