Harsh. Viz is funny.

So is the Telegraph if your sense of humour is dark enough.

According to a news release from the Wilmington Police Department, an officer patrolling on Aug. 8 was flagged down by James Yokeley, chair of the Surry County Board of Elections, at the Sheetz gas station in the 2500 block of Shipyard Boulevard. Yokeley notified the officer that his two juvenile granddaughters had just found "two hard objects in the ice cream they had recently purchased at the Dairy Queen located at 5901 Oleander Drive."
"The two pills were collected, and preliminary field tests conducted indicated that the pills were illegal narcotics," the release states. "Those pills have since been sent to the State lab for further conclusive testing."
In the initial tests, the pills tested positive for cocaine and MDMA, also known as "molly,". "WPD detectives were notified and opened an investigation," the release said. "During the investigation, it was determined by video footage that Yokeley had been the one who placed the two pills into both victims' ice cream."

Likely scenario:
Plan A: Yokeley intended to drug his two nubile granddaughters, aged 15 and 16, and have his evil way with them. Thwarted by their discovery of the pills.
Plan B, after quick thinking: put the blame on the ice cream parlour. Thwarted by video footage from their security cameras.
Plan C: hope for a jury of like-minded individuals. Quite possible in North Carolina, but if unsuccessful,
Plan D: get a full pardon, and probably a wodge of taxpayers' cash, from the tangerine toddler.

It goes without saying that Yokely is a republican. He's also a vaccine sceptic, stolen election conspiracist, and of course a devout Christian. He has now resigned his post, while protesting his innocence: "After much prayer, thoughtful reflection and consultation, I have concluded that it's in the best interest of the State Board of Elections and Surry County Board of Elections, regarding my own falsely accused circumstances, to step down at this time," Yokeley said in the letter. He added: "I remain prayerfully confident that I will be exonerated of all accusations levied against me."

Too late to edit: On Friday, Wilmington police Lieutenant Greg Willett clarified that the two girls were actually his 16-year-old step-granddaughter and her 15-year-old friend.

So that's all right then.

Less likely to get off in North Carolina if they weren’t blood relatives he was looking to drug and take advantage of.

It's a conspiracy to make Labour look economically competent.

He's all over the place at the moment. One minute it's <x> next moment it's <not x>. I think he'll be a bit of a disaster but he's only got a term if 1 yr when they'll be another election. And in 1 yr a good chance the other candidates will be standing again (as they'll still be MPs) so I suspect Green Party are taking a chance as they can switch back in 12 months.

Plus Green Party is very democratic so leader doesn't have anything like the power of eg Labour or Conservative leaders.

I heard him on TV this morning. He’s at the Corbyn level of naivety. Chuck a bit of tax on the billionaires and suddenly everything is paid for. Unfortunately the economic ‘polices’ of the Greens stop them being credible even if you care about the environmental side of things. One thing that was a bit odd for a Green was he said something along the lines of if you raise enough in tax immigration isn’t an issue as you just build enough houses for them. It seemed a bit off message for Greens to be advocating unprecedented levels of house building.

That's the impression I've got from the bits I've seen. Also (IIRC) wants to withdraw from NATO, which seems rather bold at present.

Did (past tense). Mostly different view yesterday. Unless the "withdraw" is today (hence all over the place). Yesterday it was that we should have a new NATO without the US and be a member of that. Plus we should be encouraging members of the new alliance to unilaterally give up their nuclear wespons.

All of which to me highlights his all over the place and his naivety (as others have commented).
