'Superflu', my arse. It's called 'flu'. Or 'influenza' if you've got lots of Letraset left over.

I'm just wondering whether I'll get to the meeting in Paris.

Are you going by bike, and if so, with more than one vitesse?

The NHS sometimes suffers from the Murray Walker problem. If you start out at "superlative" where is there to go when another superlative is required?

It also suffers from the Daily Mail weather forecast problem. "Worst flu season since the last one. Great loss of life expected."

99 mph gusts now recorded in the Scilly Isles.
Stil some way off the winds recorded atop Ventoux mind!

Not been able to find a live feed from the Scillies - only Looe, which looks fairly calm. Though Aidan McGivern did warn that it could change in a short space of time, given where the centre of the storm was and how tight the band of silly winds (SWIDT?) would be.

It passed through Looe at about 6. They had 75mph I believe. Or they did in Polperro.

But look at the graph as of week 48, and you can see why they were worried.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Normal increase for that kind of time of year. I'll grant you that the first early rise was rather earlier than normal, but that was it.

This was Professor Christina Pagel's take in the middle of that December increase, so definitely not hindsight.
