I think this is probably just because the music is bland watery shīt.

Fair, providing you aren't defending Ed Sheeran. His popularity is as inexplicable to me as Taylor Swift.

(I am currently listening to A Perfect Night in London by Lou Reed so my snobbery is particularly high today.)

Hopefully because of his song Gallway Girl.
I feel a bit sorry for Sheeran.
He has been caught in the crosshairs here.

Aye, parts of me do, parts of me don't.

For someone with a very carefully curated image I think he's been pretty naive about the whole situation.

Politics aside I hope there isn't lasting damage to his friendships.

That rather depends if there's at least a private admission by him about his naivety, and a realisation of how the pro-Netanyahu voice will react to even the slightest criticism of the situation in Gaza, and why saying nothing is not a credible option for someone with such a profile who's hiring other artists with not-hidden sympathies.

A hammer seems to be the only tool they have though. They seem lost in a world where inflation and interest rates aren't automatically linked.

I’d say that within a global market our interest rates are inconsequential. We can make our own lives a little easier, or a little more miserable but it won’t affect inflation.
The Houthies may have more say, for example.

I find this all very sinister, especially from the “good guys”.
As sinister as dropping Macklemore.
