Who is she going to talk to?

The pork markets?

The all-female flight on Bezos’s phallic rocket seems like something out of a new Austin Powers film.

I was listening to Radio Jockland in the car and one commentator said that being up there changes peoples ideas about the world. They see what a beautiful orbit is and for some it's life changing.
She said that as these were very rich people, perhaps now they'll do some good for the planet after the experience. An interesting comment.

That's on a par with thinking people would change their habits post Covid. It'll last a week.

Just think of all the amazing clever female scientists and engineers working on high tech projects.
And this is the photo the world sees to publicise women’s space travel.
It’s vomit inducing.

I'll console myself with being completely ignorant about the 'achievements' or identity of all of these 'astronauts'.

I'm just a bit surprised that Trump allowed Bezos the DEI aspect of an all-female crew including two black women.

@briantrumpet I have just read on another forum that the UK has brought in a temporary ban on EU cheese and meat.
EU Cheese & Meat Ban
Travellers have not been allowed to bring back items such as cured meat and cheese, including in sandwiches, since Saturday due to the growing outbreak on the continent. The restrictions apply regardless of whether the goods are packed or packaged, or bought from duty free.

It follows an earlier ban of similar products from Germany, Hungary, Slovakia and Austria after rising cases of the cattle disease in those countries.

The restrictions apply to people arriving in Great Britain, not Northern Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey, or the Isle of Man. Products will be seized and destroyed if people try to bring them in, and in "serious cases" people could be fined up to £5,000.

Thanks, yes, had seen that. IIRC that is effectively reciprocal, as IIRC in theory there was a similar ban UK → EU at Brexit. I did once have half a Reblochon confiscated at CdG as it was classed as a liquid for hand baggage purposes, though I reckon the border guards just fancied a snack.

It is ostensibly because this is only for the super rich and they did do a lot of screaming. However, seeing the world from up there, as an orb and the black backdrop of space must trigger something in even the smallest cognitive capacity.
I read a Grauniad article which interviewed a NASA astronaut alongside a Japanese one and they both shared a very similar world view since being 'up there'.
Perhaps though. 11 mins wasn't long enough.

When you think of all the women who contributed to space exploration it's ridiculous the amount of coverage that a few ultra rich women doing 10 minutes of space tourism has received. From Celia Payne to the Nasa mathematicians and actual astronauts, there are so many women in this field who deserve to be better known but now if you ask someone to name a woman who went into space it'll be 'Katy Perry'.

This page hasn't been updated with the latest debutants. Shame on you, wikiPeople! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_women_astronauts
