It is ostensibly because this is only for the super rich and they did do a lot of screaming. However, seeing the world from up there, as an orb and the black backdrop of space must trigger something in even the smallest cognitive capacity.
I read a Grauniad article which interviewed a NASA astronaut alongside a Japanese one and they both shared a very similar world view since being 'up there'.
Perhaps though. 11 mins wasn't long enough.

Shipping them to a separate planet would do it (IMHO) ;)

When you think of all the women who contributed to space exploration it's ridiculous the amount of coverage that a few ultra rich women doing 10 minutes of space tourism has received. From Celia Payne to the Nasa mathematicians and actual astronauts, there are so many women in this field who deserve to be better known but now if you ask someone to name a woman who went into space it'll be 'Katy Perry'.

There was one woman on-board who I'd rather NOT ship to a separate planet:

(that is a dreadfully tabloid-style article, apologies folks!)

She would likely qualify to be a real astronaut. Perhaps she's using the stunt to draw attention to her work, which would be good but a bit of an expensive way to do so imo.

It's going to be new climbing Everest for the ultra rich isn't it?

Google says: As of December 2023, a total of 676 people have flown into space and 19 of them have died. This sets the current statistical fatality rate at 2.8 percent.

So yeah, probably quite similar to Everest! :P

Risky business. I don’t like those odds.
This phenomenon could be over very soon once the first space tourists die.

Is this going to eclipse the Mile High club?

One suspects that it is just a matter of time.

I think it's always made clear that this a very high risk journey. Obviously Bezos and Musk want to make it as safe as possible, but we are very much at the early stages.

There'll be one scary failed take off or a bumpy landing and it'll go the way of visiting the Titanic by submarine. Honestly, it's pointless, reckless, and indulgent, and seeing it passed off as inspirational female empowerment is a bit depressing.
