All reasonably valid issues but there will be highly paid* consultants addressing all of them spas part of any application and if they fail to suitably satisfy the Council’s own officers dealing with those issues then there’ll be a recommendation to refuse. Seriously, do they think no-one else would think of these things without them?

Indeed, to all of this. I've had enough "FFS, not that one again" comments from said friend to last a lifetime.

I think my favourite one was when the building site was on an old gasworks in the middle of other housing, and part of the deal was extremely expensive remediation to clean it up. The opponents of the development hired a doctor to show that the remediation would be worse than just leaving the site contaminated. My friend had doubts about the doctor, hired a private eye, and it turned out he was a fraud and not a doctor at all. Strangely, that didn't help their case.

That question's a bit low.

Someone's going to bottle it.

You know where to send him next time he needs help answering the highways, traffic and road safety bits! I can then justify spending my day on NCAP as business development

I suspect he's already got a range of consultants, given his position and experience. Who knows, you might have worked with him in the past. Midas, Linden... and a trumpet player, so he's not all bad.

Definitely worked on several Midas and Linden schemes in the past including their office in Newton Abbott (not sure if it still exists since Vistry took them over?).

PM sent, as in that case I'm pretty sure you'll know him! Small world if you do.

Something very sad about bold 1960s architecture (G2-listed) being demolished, though once its raison d'etre as swimming baths ceased, it's not entirely surprising, given the size and specificity of it.

I'm assuming there was a huge amount more to the whole case than has been widely reported. It all feels very odd.

The coroner was pretty clear it didn't.
I can't find a coroners report or a summary thereof anywhere. Bit you are at the very least mistaken if you think the only thing that matters is whether or not prompt action might have saved his life.

It probably matters to his family that his last experiences in life were 1. Being stabbed 2. Being falsely accussed 3. Being mistakenly arrested 4. Not being listened to while he was dying?

I think I must have missed the part where the attending officers made any attempt to assess the facts, before proceeding with 2-4.
