Depending on the Party in power, there is usually an election, but, with a very restricted group of voters.

But what is alcohol? If one believes themself to be drinking the coolest mountain waters from Lake Annecy then surely it is so, and not a bottle of five euro Chateauneuf du Pape?

Stevie Smith seems to have fallen out of fashion these days. She was actually rejected as Poet Laureate to succeed John Masefield as she was deemed "unstable" by the then Chair of The Poetry Society when consulted.

I always think Simon Armitage's poem 'The Shout' has echoes of Smith's poem.

It does feel a bit like China is reinventing the world. Now they are building massive solar farms *over* reservoirs, as it helps reduce evaporation. The scale of the one here is mind boggling: it's like they come up with an idea and then just scale it up x1000.

People living in the locale in the US have to put up with astronomical electricity bills (and a constant hum). There is no legal precedent that the Data centre owner needs to find a viable electricity source and offset consumption/rising cost, so the solar installation in China makes commercial and some environmental sense.
If you want scale, there's approx. (you cannot get the exact figure because of the number of constructions) 4400 to 5400 data centres in the US. Some of them use diesel or LPG generators on top of grid consumption.

Apple announced increases of 20% on their products and Microsoft ae following/ Apple stocks took a hit. This is due to a shortage of chips. The shortage is due to data centre consumption... Think of the environment and people:

Yup. They are taking the world for a ride, especially the wild west in the US, where they seem to be calling all the shots, and taking precedence over, well, the humans who actually live there, stealing their water and power.
