The police have already arrested someone so things are moving very fast.

I suspect that there's either going to be something rather peculiar about this, or that it's a nutter already known to the plod.

It would appear that potential cat owners are influenced by the colour of the cat, when selecting a cat to “rescue”. Who would have thought it?

Very true, as someone who has had several rescues, shelters are always full on black cats as they are rather ludicrously still associated with witches and bad luck superstitions.

AW was on a celebrity antiques programme a couple of years ago. She lived in a large but pretty run of the mill bungalow. It did look like anybody could walk up the drive. From what I recall of the show she seemed quite a sad figure who didn't have a settled childhood.

Black cats and dogs are also more difficult to photograph, so when they appear on rescue websites they don’t look as interesting as a ginger cat or golden retriever etc.

That’s my theory anyway after trying to take a nice portrait of my black dog.

Fücking hell. Came home from work tonight and sat down with a pizza and a pint and had a scroll through Cycle Chat as you do. I had no idea that AW had been murdered and I'm properly shocked.
Heres a tweet from Iain Dale that seems like a fitting tribute to me. RIP Ann.

This is the post Dale was referring to. There's plenty of similar sentiments being expressed on supposedly kinder Bluesky just as much as on X. I think Tatchell might find the comments about him after his death aren't going to be any nicer.

I just find it odd that someone could spend their life excoriating those on the other bus while apparently never being a passenger on any bus.

The timeline is weird, her death was announced early enough for Today to report on it, but the police were not called by the ambulance service until 11:40.

Apparently it was 11.40 yesterday.
Still odd how the news broke.

Her views were based on her religious beliefs, as was her choice not to get on either bus I suppose. I thought Richard Coles wrote a nice response to her death, in effect saying that his vehement disagreement with her on many issues was offset by her being 'inconveniently congenial'.
