I thought the smoke from that fire was getting worse then took them took the dog out to discover this on the corner of the street. Luckily the wind isn’t blowing its usual direction so it spread away from the hedges down the rest of the street and hopefully didn’t reach their house. Fire brigade were there very quickly and got it under control in a few minutes. Could have been pretty bad in different conditions

They had gardners there so I'm guessing maybe a spark from their tools or maybe one of them smoking.

Not surprising. They stopped a gay cruise ship from docking the other week. Except for tourist areas the government has been having a bit of a 'morality' crackdown for quite a while, including reducing measures to stop violence against women and reducing choices around reproductive rights.

Bonfire? Be ause everything will be dry so now is a good time, not a massively stupid time?

Our neighbour keeps telling people on our local WhatsApp group he's thinking about having a fire does anyone mind. So far lots of people have unfortunately had washing out and/or windows open, but there's just no consequential thinking with some people.

I genuinely did not realise it was Jurgen Klopp the Liverpool manager in the Trivago ads. I knew vaguely what he looked like but didn't recognise him at all after his make over and Turkey teeth (probably not actually from Turkey ...).

It caught the edge of their roof and most of the guttering / facias on one side have melted. Lucky it didn’t get into the roof void or the whole lot could have gone. With the wildfires nearby they were probably quite lucky the fire brigade got there so quickly. Nearest station is around 5 miles away. That’s the thing people forget with wildfires, it takes resources away from the usual service.

I think the teeth were always like that, and latterly had Jürgen Klopp surgically attached around them.

The French forest fire near my place flared up briefly again yesterday a week after it was 'fixed' (that's the first official stage at which a fire is deemed 'under control'), and, in contrast with the Russian photo, you can see here where a ton of water is actually effective (they ended up doing ten drops like this, followed up by firefighters on the ground with a 4km firehose). There are still 200 firefighters on standby. It's an impressive operation.

They got very lucky.
If it catches the actual roof timbers you are in massive trouble, the fire burns uncontrollably inside the attic because the tiles stop the fire brigade from putting the fire out.
