In other news, 'Okehampton Interchange' (a parkway-type one out of town to the east) opens on Friday to serve that part of Devon without having to crawl into central Okey, and for the new builds going on in that general direction. As is typical, a Facebook post about it gets all the grumps about all the other lines/stations that haven't been built, the nimbys who are against any new housing, and any other general grumble about 2026. NFFB.

I am very unhappy that I still cannot get a train to Princetown.

And it was still too steep. The route makes more sense when you are there and you can see the paucity of other options.

I can see the contours.
The line from Axminster to Lyme Regis was similarly convoluted, even including a substantial viaduct. The train could only stop at Combpyne on the return journey because of the gradient.

A very good de-bunking of the Telegraph artticle that claimed that reducing pollution has made the planet hotter.

The warming of the planet is not caused by a fall in the air pollutants that humans added to the atmosphere in the first place! It is caused by greenhouse gas emissions Air pollution has simply protected us from the worst impacts of global warming. And paradoxically, had we NOT implemented policies to reduce air pollution, greenhouse emissions would also have been far higher, which would have led to EVEN HIGHER temperatures
