The first step of the enshitification process.
The one thing I don't like about Amazon e-books is how restrictive they are in terms of sharing with your family. You can only share with one other adult. So if my wife wants to share books with her mum, she can't also share them with me or either of our daughters who are now too old for child accounts. If she shares with her mum, I can't share my books with her.
On the other hand if one of us buys a paperback, it can make its way round the family before going to a second hand shop.

Likewise. And companies come and go eg warningAnd that's why I have stayed away from electronic books. A printed book is mine, Bezos can't retroactively take it away from me, like he did with 1984

I'm unclear about the status of Kindle actual downloads. Previously there were two options: read online or download. As I recall the download option was removed some while ago. I'm assuming that the books I actually downloaded are out of Amazon's reach. But I might be wrong.
I assume purchasers were fully refunded. The 1984 copies were deleted from the devices, so at least at that time downloads were not out of amazon's reach.

nb My Kindle runs in Airtime mode the entire time with only brief online times when I do a "stock-up" of more books, then airplane mode again.
It can, but not in addition to the triple lock and universal credit in its current form.Ed Davey is writing cheques he will never cash.
Offering to push the tax brackets up to £15.000 and £56,000.
This really is something that shouldn’t be contentious and should’ve been done already, but the country can’t afford it.
