For our ward there are two seats to be filled and four candidates.
One is a well-meaning independent who, if you wanted to be unkind, you could characterise as a bit dim, but pleasant enough.
One is a serial trouble-maker who has refused to apologise for past misdemeanours (he lost his seat on the town council last time).
Two are Tories - one seconded by a friend & neighbour, anodyne statement from him, the other doesn't even publish an actual address.

I cannot bring myself to mark more than a single X. What would you do? (it's too late to stand).

Vote for the dim-but-not-Tory one .

Then you can bring your Machiavellian influence to bear on him, once he's in post..
😇

Which reminds me I have eve-of-poll leaflet deliveries* to do.

Fingers crossed for decent weather, and even perhaps some congenial company on my round.

*Thankfully our independent is not dim..
Nor a wrongun afaik.

Well, he does have an allotment near ours.

Another former trouble-maker in this town has apparently transferred his political ambitions to Sidmouth Town.

Well I think it's very poor form exporting your n'erdowells out of the valley -

They won't stand for knaveish nonsense down Sidders way, you know ..🙄

Just what kind of trouble-making do these caddish coves of yours get up to anyhow..??

Joy of Joys we have an extra candidate this election
so not just the Labour who would get elected if he was a stuffed donkey and the Tory who may or may not know where the place actually is

this time we also have a Green candidate - which is interesting and I could be persuaded to think about voting for

sooooooo - how to choose

pamphlet through the door from Labour
mostly concentrating on how carp the national govenmnet have been - which shows where they think they will get votes from
then some relevant stuff about what they have accomplished and plan to do
so - OK

Tories - no sign - but then I have lived her for nearly 10 years and drive past the Conservative Party HQ quite a lot - never seen anyone even near the door, never mind going in or out

Greens - nothing - no info - no pamphlet no posters
so I decided to look on line
Naff all
did find the Warring and Halton Green Party web site
last entry 2016!!
and looking at the content it is all about Warrington - seems like they needed to include Halton in it at some point and just amended the heading and that is the total sum of their effort
no idea of their policies, plans or ideas

so looks like we are back to the Labour guy
having said which I have sent them several emails about general stuff over the last few years and they have always sent back replies with useful information and found out stuff they didn;t know

so at least they have been doing their job - to at least some extent

Our ward was a one blue horse race for many a year, with only the  turd candidate with the blue rossette standing last few times. This year they amalgamated three wards, with two seats in contention, and the lib dems in with a chance to pick one of them, let's see how it goes.

If you had any principles at all, you would have moved to a borough with a marginal seat more to your liking.

Nothing our way this year. New Unitarty Council elected in 2021 and not up again until 2025. Police and Fire Commissioner next year.

All Blue round here although there were independents on the old District Council.

Big advert on Facebook this morning from our local conservative leader.

It was all about criticising the lib/lab/green local councils, and saying they are trying to campaign on national issues.

I was tempted to reply that you should be blaming the national CON party, not silly feeble-minded local voters!

One of our prospective town councillors describes himself as having a background in policing, security, finance and organised crime worldwide.
Be careful who you vote for.

Well - "some people" say that Las Vegas ran really well and smoothly when the Mafia ran it

so maybe he has a point

I've voted already (postal vote). I've seen a lot of Labour posters up so hopefully people are changing their mind. I had a Labour rep knock at the door last week as well.

Got a Conservative, TUSC, Green, Labour and UKIP in my ward.

The Conservative and UKIP candidates have declined to list their addresses. Cowards.

Just write to c/o TheTelegraph.

Socialist Workers Party leaflet was great. 'Free money for everyone'.
They forget that BJ thought he was Viv Nicholson.
