Does anybody here take the Greens seriously?

TBH my choice will be based on where my vote is best placed to prevent the election of a Reform MP. Probably Lib Dem in my area.

I think that's going to be a lot of people's calculation, in the same way that #gtto (get the Tories out) was the primary motivator in the last election. It's a rubbish way to vote, but FPTP makes it necessary, in order to prevent the worst possible outcome.

I think it relates to Polanski rather than the Greens. Polanski is more left wing than "Green" so his drive is mostly in relation to his personal politics than the main Green Party priorities.

That seems problematic if they want to have a coherent platform.

Historically, Green parties have been all over the place politically, outside specifically green policies. I think that's a problem if they want to attract a reliably loyal constituency.

I console myself with thought that the tories are out of the race.

I think they probably are, but such is the nature of modern politics, I'm not taking anything for granted. I'd still hope they ditch Badenoch and get someone who is rather less online and less focused on just trolling Labour with scripted attacks, and less intent on trying to be Reform. Yeah, I know, it's unlikely.

Only problematic if the alternative to Reform is the Tories in one's constituency, as it's hard to tell them apart in either intent or competence.

The problem with your ABC / GTTO voting last time was that a number of the very good Tory MPs lost their seats.

This time round it looks like to will be a bit of ABR (Anyone but Reform) and GLO (Get Labour Out) voting.
So again, some very good MPs will lose their seats due to negative voting.

It's a sad outcome of FPTP. I'd like to be able to cast a positive vote and reward sense. The Tories themselves did a pretty impressive internal job of telling the sensible/capable Tories that they weren't welcome well prior to the election.

Maybe also a problem for them when/if Starmer gets things together and things (anything) starts to improve. Maybe Polanski has attracted a lot of those desperately disappointed with Starmer's performance but they might be very ready to return to Labour when/if things improve.

Yes, can I vote for a very good local Labour MP? Very difficult if I consider what the current government is/isn't doing.
