Does anybody here take the Greens seriously?

We all know life isn’t fair. Just being born in UK has given us all a huge advantage.

But It’s incumbent soon governments to reduce the unfairness. It’s their main role.

You are quite correct in theory.
The longer I live though the more convinced I am that a government’s main role is raising enough income to cover their expenses.

Interesting that the Greens have won their first bye-election victory.

A Plumber (does that top “son of a toolmaker” for working class credentials.

The rallying cry appears to be “helping those who are feeling left behind”, rather than any “green” agenda.

Apocalypse on the horizon. Before you know it they'll be dealing 'hard drugs' from a corner shop near you. Maybe ask your mam if you can have a lock on your bedroom door @Stevo 666?

Ok it's a by-election, but let's celebrate a win for someone presenting a positive outlook on the future.
Almost certainly impossible to replicate on a national level. I know people involved in getting that vote out and it was definitely a concerted effort. Maybe Reform would have done better if they'd diverted people from flag hanging and zebra crossing painting.

People should listen to his R4 Today interview. I was pleasantly surprised at how incoherently ranty and angry he came across. He is prone to tangents that will not survive more intense soundbite politics and, at least to my ear, wasn't remotely likeable.

John Curtice speculated about six months ago that Reform may have peaked in polling, and I have a hunch the Greens will go the same way.

This isn't to say that the multi-party political landscape isn't real, but I wonder whether tactical and protest voting is going to make the situation extremely volatile. Trying to predict and anticipate which bandwagon to jump on is very hard in that climate, so Labour may struggle if that's still their plan.

Failed as an academic, now failed as an election candidate. Poor Matt.
