Musk doing to America what he did to Twitter ($44bn to $19bn in s few years. Any bets on what USA will try and change its name to?
I still think New Gilead has a nice ring to it...

You believe anything but the truth. The tariffs will benefit Tesla.
I was trying to work that angle out. Presumably Tesla buy a lot of their battery components and chips from China which would be problematic. What does benefit Musk is the freedom from official organisations trying to hold him accountable.

Twitter was taken into private ownership under X corp umbrella. I reckon there were some massive tax offset savings from the lower value of twitter.

He has stated it was to make it a free speech platform. Now being the No1 news platform across the planet.

There is no actual evidence of course that any of that is true. CNN is the most watched News station across the planet. X isn't even the most popular digital platform for news:-

  • News use across online platforms is fragmenting, with six networks now reaching at least 10% of our respondents, compared with just two a decade ago. YouTube is used for news by almost a third (31%) of our global sample each week, WhatsApp by around a fifth (21%), while TikTok (13%) has overtaken Twitter (10%), now rebranded X, for the first time.

The BBC News website is still the most popular news website in the world by some margin.
X is dying. Bluesky has gone from 13 million users to 30 million in 6 months. The X-odus has begun.
Me and my facts again...

X is the place for news in 140 countries. 😁
Well, I've read through your supporting evidence and my conclusion is that you have made this up.
The world perception of X is that it cannot be trusted as a news source as far as I am aware.
It remains popular with people who find thinking a challenge and need someone else to tell them their opinion.

Yes it makes money from them. But if they weren't available the legacy manufacturers would pay far more in fines for not meeting emissions quota
So it's effectively a subsidy to Tesla as the main electric car maker in America.
Quite ironic really when Musk clearly supports Trump and his voiced intentions to expand fossil fuel extraction. Indeed, Trump has signed an order fast tracking fossil fuel permit infrastructure.
Still, that particular cash cow may not quite as productive for Tesla in the future, at least so far as the US government is concerned, thanks to Trump.
Meanwhile the batshittery in Trump world continues with Trump signing an Executive order to create a sovereign wealth fund. Perhaps to be funded by all of the tariffs Canada, Mexico, China etc., will allegedly be paying?

China are manufacturing cheaper electric cars in number, which will be subject tariffs. Also Trump is talking about tariffs on EU made cars.

Canada caves into Trump
Trump backs down due to fierce opposition from Mexico and Canada after his aides inform him he is a moron and will crash the US economy.

Worth also noting that the Fentanyl being imported illegally is largely done by Americans themselves.
Anyway that nice Mr Jinping from China is offering to step in to help while the US is in Chaos.
