What problems, my mate flies there almost monthly, no issues. He's going this week.

• increased risk of being deported

Start slagging him off may get you a smack in the mouth in the USA or worse. If you have a problem with the president, you also have a problem with the people that voted him into power.

You would not want to be around such folk, so why would you visit?

If you had been posting on social media, bad mouthing the leader and you knew of the immigration policies why would you even attempt to go. That would be wasted expense if stopped at the border and also very stupid.

Stay at home or go to countries that mirror your political leanings. Everyone seems keen on China at the moment 😁

It is certainly true that border guard behaviour plumets depending on national sentiment. I have a strong memory of going through Newark the last time the orange twat was elected, and the queue at customs exceeded the terminal's capacity. (We can't have undocumented British PhDs offering comparatively cheap professional services coming in, can we? At least, not without fingerprinting them and finding out what hotel they are staying in.)

It is also true that slagging off the president, anywhere in the US, is roulette. Right now. California is fairly safe, but you just never know. I was once taken out for the night by a bunch of PhDs with a dim view of George Dubya. Someone came across the restaurant to inform us that we should not speak about the Pres-see-dant like that.

The reason I didn't take up the option to move to the US was because, for all it's wonders (and there are many), it's a deeply farked up society.
