“I’m not happy with what Putin’s doing. He’s killing a lot of people. ...
but he’s sending rockets into cities and killing people, and I don’t like it at all.”
Maybe somebody should point out what Netanyahu is doing ... and who is providing the bombs ... and who is providing political support ...

Trump's still angry they didn't admit his son and are defying his threats. It almost goes without saying that this kind of behaviour, using unilateral mob threats to discriminate against a single university, is deeply illegal, but that doesn't seem to bother a single Republican.

If it would be such a great investment and is so badly needed, it does beg the question why in the "big beautiful bill", the requested funding for such colleges didn't substantially increase. I'm sure the wealthy corporations and individuals could afford to lose $3bn in tax cuts between them.
Although I doubt most MAGA will make this connection.

I suspect the individuals lurking behind this would prefer a compliant, not too well-educated workforce.

Personally I am absolutely sure of it, whilst those who are educated should follow the dictat.
Unfortunately, the line in the orange dictator's comment about trade schools, is what I suspect his MAGAcolytes will sieze upon, without thinking of the bigger picture.

Surely there are a few Republican senators that attended Harvard and they tend to be almost cult like in their loyalty to their former colleges over there (especially if they had any sporting involvement) so you would think there'd be some dissent.

Trump announces full pardon for Virginia sheriff convicted of bribery
...
Jenkins was convicted by a jury in December 2024 for accepting more than $75,000 in bribes in exchange for appointments as auxiliary deputy sheriffs.
...
He [Trump] said Jenkins was a “victim of an overzealous Biden Department of Justice” and a “wonderful person”
This sort of thinmk seems to be happening a lot and to me means there is no longer "rule of law" in the |US. Trump in effect taking the role of judge and jury. I can't find any justification as to why this individual was pardoned, he was found guilty, I see it as a serious offence.

Message from Trump's US: bribery and corruption are quite acceptable and when courts "stick their noses in" will go unpunished.

Mike Johnson's opinion is that obviously Trump can't be breaking the law because he's doing it in full public gaze, even if it does flout the constitution in multiple ways.

I'm in an airport listening to some Americans praising DOGE for removing "millions" of people over the age of 120 from claiming social security. A large innumerate individual did some manmaths and calculated the savings at $400Bn, based on $1200 a month.

(a) He is out by a factor of about 4 even using manmaths.
(b) This has been debunked already. Aside from anything else, payments automatically stop past 115.

Makes me depressed that people this thick can afford to travel outside of Texas.

Maybe they need a good University ... like Harvard ... oops, too late. Trouble educate people and they'll recognise the twaddle they're being fed for what it is.
