I don't hold my breath. For all the german army protestations that the SS were the Nazis, not them, not one of the top generals pushed back against Hitler until it started to become apparent that they were going to loose the war. Those guys (the US generals) know that what Trump and Hegseth order them to do is not right, but they will do it anyway. The US military have been doing this sort of shït forever, the only difference is they will be doing it to a useful idiot ally now, why would they complain?

Well, with Brexit the country voted to be an isolated medium sized country in a world dominated by two/three giant countries. I guess the PM has to act in a way that recognises that.

Yes the UK is very isolated at the moment and USA are our historical ally so the PM (whichever one happens to be in power) can’t just come out with anti US statements without very careful consideration.

If only we had some other global institutions we could cling to. The UN and NATO are impotent and we left the EU.
