But the UK government is looking after the fish better.

Yes, we have bought them all little hats and they now go on spa days.

The area the UK controls is much larger than, and yes the UK could do more, but the UK is doing more than the EU.

That could be a good argument for the UK being in the EU and helping formulate something better than the current CFP. IIRC, their science and research was pretty good when the UK was in the EU, even if the UK didn't always like the diktats.

You always make that argument. Any Brexit benefit should be better because the UK should be saving the EU from itself.

I'm not sure how you formulate a sensible fisheries policy in isolation. Well, you can, but unless all your neighbours agree and agree to police it, it's just pissing in the sea. It's another example where 'sovereignty' is effectively meaningless. I'll grant you that farming is slightly different in that French farmers can't suddenly start farming on UK soil (or at least, not without buying it first), but we've still got to deal with international markets over which the UK has no control.

I don't really understand this sort of snide sarcasm. It's possible to believe the UK should never have left the EU whilst accepting that there have been benefits from Brexit. It's not a religion. You can sin a few times and acknowledge positives.
That is a fair point.
It would be helpful if those Brexit benefits were more obvious though.

You say that, but if you look at the sandeel ban, it has been welcomed by the RSPB and fought in the courts by the EU. So I can't see how it is just "pissing in the sea".

The traditional answer to this is , "go on then - list the Brexit Benefits"

Thus far I am not aware of anyone being able to find one.

Yay, sand eels are saved, it's all been worth it, £100bn and all.

OK, that's snide sarcasm, I'll grant you that, but seriously, if that's your argument for why Brexit Is Slightly Good, then snide sarcasm might be justified, I'd suggest.

FWIW, for the millionth time, I'm not claiming everything the EU has ever done or will do is perfect, but, on balance, it's Considerably Less Shit than some mythical sovereignty.

And we definitely couldn't have done that whilst still in the EU? Definitely?

We would have had to convince those horrid ignorant foreigners that our way was better, when it is self evidently obvious that it is, because we are British. We can now do things the obviously right British way without going through the effort of convincing any horrid ignorant foreigners.
