I suppose she's got nothing to lose. Conservatives are not going to put her in the House of Lords, Johnson not returning to run the Conservatives so her future is ever more obscurity. This move gives her some column inches. No doubt the BBC will be seeking her out for interviews, maybe she'll get a few Question Time appearances, etc. vs sitting at home feeling the world is ignoring her.
