The correct decision imo.
'Stephen Evans, chief executive of the National Secular Society, said after the decision: "The High Court has rightly rejected this wrongheaded attempt to introduce a blasphemy law by the back door.
"However offensive some may have found the Quran-burning protest, it was lawful.
"Criminal law protects people from harm, not from being offended.
"This judgment makes clear that it is not the state's job to police religious sensibilities. A hostile – even violent – reaction to speech cannot be allowed to determine whether that speech is criminal".'

About time. What a waste of police resources NCHI claims were. Something that started out as a well intentioned attempt at intelligence gathering to prevent crime was quickly weaponised by some to punish people who disagreed with them, usually via an online spat.
The process was the punishment and having people endure visits from the police, phones and laptops confiscated, and be under the shadow of investigation for months, was used as a way to silence others. It doesn't stop the police investigating death threats etc but hopefully it will put an end to frivolous complaints.

Aside from the irony of the Free Speech Union siding with banning public prayer it's telling that every defense of Timothy lies about what he actually said.
