Labour shelve plans to speed up getting your trans certificate

Due to Reform's popularity

At the same time over 1000 women had healthy breasts removed in masculinity procedures on the NHS last year.

Sigh. What are you struggling with?

I know you don't like being challenged on your sources, but Sex Matters have a pretty f*cking warped agenda and it's a miracle they have charity status.

Credulous CXR is struggling with the notion of not taking everything you read at face value.

If your source is The Telegraph, and it's being amped by a horrid anti-trans org you probably need to take a breath and take the time to find out the detail.

Firstly, the public record and the internal GMC record are separate. Doctors with new identities cannot circumvent investigations or disciplinary action, so the lynchmob suggestion that errant doctors will declare themselves trans to escape sanction is nonsense.

There may be no disciplinary record on trans doctors public registration because there may be none anyway. Suspensions are removed from the public record after 10 years (or 15 if suspension was 3+ months)

There are 62 doctors in this category (out of 390,000 GMC registered registered in UK), and some of the new registrations are because of threats made to their safety, ie. the huge irony that the very thing the transphobes are complaining about is a result of the actions of transphobes

Their disciplinary history has not been erased you pillock. Can you not read?

Leaving history on the 'name' previously used and not carrying it forward is effectively erasing the history.

Does the new name have AKA attached.

Criminals who use pseudonyms have AKA and all their previous criminal history is held under one blanket document.

Does it apply to all name changes or just when you change your name along with your sex marker on the register? Seems a bit discriminatory if it doesn't apply to all those who've changed names....

You can look on the GMC register and see the history of any UK doctor, even downloading the results of fitness to practice hearings.
If changing your sex marker means the same history is now unavailable to view, then that's wrong. Could be solved by a note that says 'formerly known as' and the previous name.

The GMC are saying that the privacy is due to threats to personal safety. Clearly that will be from transphobes or their far right colleagues.

Don't whinge about a situation you created.

More of a concern, woke captured club, protecting it's own weirdos

If a person working in the medical sector, studied biology to some basic level, who then cannot differentiate between what is male or female in their own body, should not be allowed to be near patients.

Do you have a link for where the GMC say it's due to threats to personal safety? Do you have any specific recorded examples for us? The news quotes say it's because of legal protections:

Your logic would apply to any medic who's been suspended. They might be reluctant to have their suspension known to the public and view it as a privacy/safety concern. That concern doesn't trump transparency and patient safety.
