So you got a crippled male tennis player to play world no1 female.

Why dont they match male no1 to female no1, seems obvious, sensible to match equal ranking players

How is world no.1 playing retired male tennis player with an injury now ranked 692nd in the world an equal "battle of the sexes" ?

Navratilova and Connors were both at the top of their careers (Arguably Navratilova was starting on the slide and about to retire from singles) and Connors beat her easily even with amended rules. Billie Jean King won hers but she was the world no.1 playing a 55 year old Bobby Riggs who had been retired for 19 years.

Yeah, I agree. It's not really much beyond a publicity stunt but I guess the interest will come from whatever the fallout is.

It's going to be either:
  • See? Even retired Male no.1s can beat a biological woman no.1 - transwomen should be banned from tennis
or
  • See? She managed to beat a retired injured male tennis player. What does that prove? Transwomen should be banned from tennis
or
  • See? She managed to beat a retired injured male tennis player. Transwomen should be able to play against other women.
It doesn't prove anything in either direction. Expect more SHOUTING

TBF, Kyrgios hasn't retired, although it's long overdue given his injury problems (I thought the same about Murray, and currently about Djokovic).

Shame for him really as I think he could have won more were it not for his injuries.

His punditry is good value.
