I've been finding this thread really dispiriting. I'd been things society has been moving forward but, oh dear, seems not.

I kmnow one trans woman, lost touch a few years ago but a good friend sees her every couple of months so up to date with her news and life is difficult. And now life is even more difficult. Why can't we as a society help people in difficult circumstances rather than just adopt a tribal stance.

And when I see things like

Let's all move to Afghanistan, plenty of enforced single sex spaces there.

It's really disheartening. We are supposed to be better than this.

Well that's interesting! I offered the opportunity for people here to ask me questions about the operation of the law. Not one question.

Thousands of posts about the law and much else, and now no interest at all. That in itself is quite telling.

Do people believe that the law such that trans women with a GRC are male before the law. I can tell you with a high degree of confidence that is not the case.

It's a men only group. And it's been that way since they were set up. They can legally exclude women from their groups.

Which is just what you want, men and women in separate facilities. And able to keep them that way.

Yes, I think men should be able to have their own stuff and there are times when it's reasonable to exclude women. Men's Shed classes/meetings are a good example.

So why did it require the comment. If protesting is not illegal, and ''men'' being topless is not illegal, why did it even get a mention?

Speaking of urinating and illegal acts - what specific law is broken if a trans woman with a GRC uses a publicly accessible women's toilet?

It's worth a mention because it's instructive about the nature of transactivism.

It's not a criminal offence, as you know.
The ruling was a clarification about sex meaning biological sex in terms of the Equality Act, as you also know. It didn't create a new criminal offence. Having a GRC doesn't come into it.

Is this the route you're going down now?
It's not a criminal offence so you will pee where you want? After a hundred posts telling me what the law is, when it turns out that wasn't the law after all you're just going to pretend it doesn't exist.

What it does clarify is that a service provider can (and always could) exclude someone of the opposite sex from the toilets without fear of being sued for discrimination. This is a welcome clarification for the areas where it really matters like single sex care, prisons, refuges, gay groups.

One of the Pool organisations have now taken steps to make their Women's events single sex again. It's now Women and Open.
