Describing Sex Matters as a 'Human Rights Charity' is beyond irony.

The human rights of women @Bromptonaut. Don't they count?

The human rights of women @Bromptonaut. Don't they count?

There is no human right to be born male or female. How could there be? Birth characteristics are mostly incidental or accidental, unless you believe that God is supervising a manufacturing plant, and checking the quality of every product.

What there is, is the fundamental right not to be discriminated against because of who you happen to be. Some women feel that the mere presence of a trans woman affronts their dignity, while other women do not. Many of the things claimed as rights are not actually rights, and statute around that is often limited.

The rights of every person are universal, but the opinions of some about other people are not. The opinions can be held as a right, but not acted upon as if they are.

Sex Matters are a human rights organisation in the same way that Stonewall are. Women are allowed to organise and advocate for their own specific interests.

Despite being informed that the bra fitting service is for women, and done by women, Sophie Molly is intending to turn up for his appointment and make a female member of staff handle his moobs. No wonder empathy has evaporated amongst the general public.

She has a point though. The court heard from several outfits on the other side of the argument but not from anybody who was actually trans and holding a GRC.

The supreme court isn't obliged to hear from anybody who wants to chip in, especially individuals. You only get to intervene if you are raising significant points of law. There's no right to intervene just because the outcome might affect you.

The Scottish government and Amnesty International were there to put the case and argued exactly the same points that an anecdotal account from McCloud would have done. There are standards to meet to be an intervenor and McCloud failed to reach them.

McCloud has zero consideration for women's rights or feelings. There are additional unisex spaces, specialist trans rape provision, and it's an impingement on female police officers rights to have to conduct body searches on men.
