Sadly, I suspect it will require a significant (American) death toll before public opinion turns in USA. Today, the death toll (American) at 7 will not do it.

In the meantime, of course, thousands of innocents will be killed.

From PBS News….other sources are available.

Talk about illegal war and war crimes on R4 this morning as a legal expert they had on was saying how US bombing an Iranian desalination plant is a war crime ... thinking if ICC issued a warrant for Trūmp I'd actually welcome King inviting him for a 3rd State Visit ... Or maybe ICC could arrange such that warrant was issued mid-3rd State Visit when Trûmp is in UK and UK would have to meet its international obligations.

They are talking about the biggest oil price shock in history now.

The more I think about it the more I am convinced that the surprise at Iran lashing out at all of its neighbours is a colossal intelligence failure. It was clearly planned in advance.

Iran has about 6 months' supply of ballistic missiles and drones. Plus any Russia gets to them, us any they can still manufacture. The US gas about 6 weeks' worth, from what I've read.

My simple maths tells me this will either still be rumbling on by the mid terms in the US, or Trump will declare himself satisfied that the job is done beforehand and leave a damaged but angered, determined and dangerous regime in place.

As Harris said at Jessie Jackson's funeral last week, "I told you so."

More than one commentator suggesting that Trump was emboldened by the Venezuelan 'success' in changing the leader there, making him think they could do the same in Iran, but without considering that Israel had more destructive motives, and that Iran is a very different proposition from Venezuela in political and geographic terms.

Meanwhile, one oil tanker has gone through the Trait of Hormuz, and France is saying that they are going to use their forces defensively to help reopen it.

I reckon TACO Trump will do a runner within a couple of weeks, claiming that he's won something or other. Maybe FIFA could make up another award for him to back it up.

The World Cup logistics for travel alone, far less security, are going to be "interesting".

The BBC have been headlining this story all day, as oil prices hit $115 early this morning. (9-30am)
Their headline still cries out that oil prices are over €100.

In fact, oil prices had a little earlier dropped by €20 a barrel.

But sure, yes, the outlook ain’t rosey.

Edit: Just checked again and it’s now less than 2 dollars more than it’s opening price.

Have the markets responded yet to the outcome of the G7 call being to let vested interests get in the way of releasing some strategic reserves?

If you'll forgive the unrequested style guide, "If one makes the argument..." etc. (as opposed to "If you...") is an elegant way out of suggesting that you're addressing an individual. I've occasionally realised that an observation I've made sounds personal, when I've had no intention of being personal!

Make sure you hand your English homework in on time, MG, or you might get a detention! 😜🤣

If you were my English teacher, my attendance would be poor.

It would be great if Trump was charged for committing a war crime if only add to the label on his big toe stretched out in the morgue.
Imagine the Truth Social rants that would follow.
