With Iran closing the straight to “undesirable“ shipping I’m a tad surprised the US isn’t trying to actively stop Iran using the straight for its exports, thus choking their economy (if they are then I’ve not heard about it)

Bombing and drone attacks aren’t going to work. Ukraine is proof of that. Just adding the word strategic doesn’t change that fact.

Iran has retaliated for the attack on their gas refinery, by attacking an industrial site in Qatar. Apparently their missile attack caused extensive damage.

Is the issue that the vessels being allowed to transit the straits are not (I would guess) Iranian owned or flagged, or Iranian crewed. Any attempt to stop the traffic would risk sinking vessels from a third nation, and, killing nationals from possibly several nations. Any attempt to blockage with American (or Israeli) vessels means putting Trumps toys with range of cheap, but, potentially deadly, shore based munitions.

A point which I have not seen mention anywhere in News reports, is the plight of the crews of ships trapped within the Gulf and unable to take on supplies.

Not a source I have used before, no idea how reliable it is, but, it does support the above ^ https://apnews.com/article/ships-iran-oil-china-us-trump-hormuz-82a9acb473837f1bf7a821d0c3f95205?utm_source=firefox-newtab-en-gb

In simple terms* the US would have to attack Indian or Chinese ships. Then things really escalate.
It would also push the price of oil & gas up astronomically.

*Flags of convenience etc muddy the waters.

How successful in reality has people rising up against brutal dictators been? It doesnt appear to have great success even when an international coalition puts boots on the ground. It took over 20 years to get rid of Saddam Hussein and his regime and 2 invasions.

But the end result was a huge success, oh, wait.

Looks like an impending arm wrestling contest in Congress is likely to decide if the Pentagon gets $200 billion to assassinate members of a foreign government and places of education from orbit.

But they can't afford healthcare subsidies and food stamps.

What sort of world is this?

Trump is vile. This administration is vile, fascistic. This is what happens when billionaires take over.
with stuff to hide and anti democratic agenda. It's a dangerous mix.
Why aren't there ani war protests?
Why aren't there humanitarian protests regarding Cuba?
Why doesn't the UN grow a pair?
Meanwhile Bibi's lot (I think he's dead. He hasn't been seen 'live' since 2nd of March and he's missed 2 security briefings) are bombing Lebanon/Beirut. If so, that means that there is a cohort of Zionist bully's in the back rooms ready to pick up the religious superiority mantle.
And on a slight tangent. Some IDF soldiers filmed the gang rape of a Palestinian woman. It was a cut and dry case. The woman had to have surgery to her rectum following the incident. There was an 'investigation' but the case was dropped and no charges were brought against the soldiers.

I used to be empathetic to Israel 'surrounded by 173 million Arabs hell bent on it's destruction' but they have become remorseless imperialists funded by US interests and driven by religious fanaticism.

They’re not winning many friends at the moment.

All those DOGE ‘savings’ getting used to put America First.

This now makes you anti-semite.
Not that I think this. Apparently being anti-war means you are anti-religion. I must have read my bible incorrectly.

According to some, yes. Bibi went on an ethnic cleansing crusade and killed 75,000 Palestinians . I kind of wish Hamas had not kidnapped those people* because it gave Netanyahu (BN from now on the c*nt) justification to further his ambitions.

*Apart from being wrong, it was a grave mistake politically (no pun intended). Though perhaps, even without the kidnappings, I am sure BN would have found a reason.
