Trump openly proposes ethnic cleansing

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...-plan-to-take-over-gaza-strip-netanyahu-visit

Nethanyahu can't believe his luck.

Here's an idea: why don't the invaders fûck off back to where they came from, and leave the Palestinians in peace, because not one of them can trace their ancestors back to Israel. The Palestinians, however, still have the keys to the houses stolen from them after '48.

For how many generations do you, or your ancestors, have to have lived in a place to “qualify” as a “native”?

Is this some kind of Schroedingers cat theoretical question?

Why don't you stop and think about what Trump has just said rather than coming out with your endless sealioning questions?

The US has just funded and supplied the killing of likely 70,000 people, almost all of whom are civilians and almost half of whom are children.

And Trump is now proposing US control and development of the area, once Palestinians have been expelled, into a huge resort.

I wonder where Trump has in mind when he said Gazans could move to?

Did he think perhaps Israel, where they could have the land and homes of their parents and grandparents stolen in 1948 at gunpoint by Jews?*

(*still happening in West Bank)

The Jewish people had it first. They just formalised the state of Israel

No, I just thought this bit was straight out of little Tommy's song book:

...why don't the invaders fûck off back to where they came from,

If I have to "fark off back to where I came from" they are probably going to have to put me through a mincer first 🙂

I made no comment about what Trump said, certainly did not say I agreed with him. 🙂

Do you really equate your situation, and probably most in the UK, me included with grandparents from four countries, to that of those in Gaza who are most likely not so ethnically diverse or those in Israel who can mostly trace their ancestral links to that country no more than a couple of generations?

Please do not trivialise such a tragic and unfair situation.

The Jews left what is now Palestine in 7th century BC, largely. 1300 years ago. There is not a single jew in existence who can trace an ancestors back to that time. The notion of 'right of return' is ridiculous, especially since the Palestinians have no 'right of return' to the lands stolen from them at gunpoint by jews. That theft at gunpoint is still going on, in the West Bank, and also now en masse in Gaza.

There is a reason why so many of the gun-toting Jews seem to speak perfect English albeit with an American accent. They aren't some sort of indigenous people...they are armed settler colonialists.

What has happened in Gaza did not start on October 7th. The Palestinians did not, in the words of our village idiot, "fark around and find out". They have been systematically brutalised, humiliated, imprisoned, and killed, for decades. The rise of groups like Hamas are a fairly natural consequence of an environment and a desperate history like that.

What is happening is an attempted genocide. It could not be written clearer with Trump's latest pronouncement.

We may not, as individuals, have much contingency in this, but the attitude we take up towards it speaks to who we really are.

I was not trivialising, and, I was not agreeing with Trump's suggestion. I was questioning the "send them back where they came from" bit.

My question was "how many generations before you become a "native"?", so far, no answer, unless you are suggesting more than 3 will do it?

I believe it was trivialising, and certainly did not suggest you agree with Trump

This is what I suspect Multitool meant when referring to sealioning. You continually pose questions to which you know there are no defined answers, but never putting forward your own ideas or solutions In an attempt to always seem reasonable.

The last part of your post is ridiculous as I assume, if I said "no more than a few generations" you would have questioned whether I was suggesting four.
