"Cabinet ministers urge Keir Starmer to recognise Palestinian state"

This is absolutely shocking state of affairs. As a reminder, here is a map of the Middle East from 90 years ago.
Note - "British Mandate for Palestine"

A man is arrested for holding up a Private Eye cartoon.
West Yorkshire police said: “We are sorry that the man involved is unhappy with the circumstances of this arrest. As this [Palestinian Action] is a new proscribed organisation, West Yorkshire police is considering any individual or organisational learning from this incident.”

“What really concerns me is the whole atmosphere of intimidation.”
Farley, who had attended a number of peaceful demonstrations in the past, pointed out on the day he was arrested, 32 Palestinians were shot by the Israel Defense Forces in Gaza while queuing for aid, a subject referenced on his placard.
“I saw it in Private Eye and I thought: ‘That’s really well thought-out. It’s got a bit of nuance about it.’ But I don’t think the cops do nuance.

Satirically I might suggest they use their taser for earwax removal.

Help if we can see sources for what looks like a quote. If it from some AI hallucination, Trump, Telegraph, UK Government, Harry Smyth's Twitter feed ? Or your personal opinion in italics?

Difficult to form and sensible view without any sources.

etc.

I can do Google. Just when something is posted in italics it's normal that it's quoted (cut/paste). Forum has special buttons for quotes and buttons to add links to we can see the source and hence assess its reliability. It would help others to see that source and even have a link if it's from a web page rather than for every post have to switch to Google and start searching ... slows everything down and OP has that link/web page as they've cut and pasted and used the buttons to make it itallics!

Also polite from an attribution perspective to provide source as the author has taken time & resources to write that stuff.

I've no wish for dispute, I tried to assist you. However the source was always within the posted text. Ian's post was a quote of a quote of the original voice.

Given that the quote is direct from Mr Farley, it seemed pedantic to link to the Guardian as well. Also, I might have been teasing.

It's a more general consideration as there seem quite a lot of posts presenting what looks like cut and paste ('cos in italics) but no source. AIs are good at making stuff up so it the source were Grok then I'd be ignoring it whereas other sources might me more reliable. Of course everybody can cut and paste and Google/Bing search and select from presented results, but why doesn't the poster make like easier for people rather than require them to research out information they have there it creating the post?

And as I mention, polite to attribute the source.

nb if I duckduckgo the text you quote I get sources inkl (no idea about them), Arab News, Socialist Worker, etc. so maybe I should then try a different search engine ... I've ignored the post as I have other things to do in my life/with my time. Poster can make life easier or harder for people reading their posts - their choice.

How do we know without a link or going to search engines, etc. to check-out something so anonymous? I don't know who Mr Farley is, never heard of him (maybe highlights how out of touch I am with the world). Of course I could switch to search engines and spend my time finding out. So I tried and apparently he died in 1997 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Farley, unless you mean the Mr Farley CEO of Ford ...

Got other things to do with my time. If you don't want to post a source link then fine but I won't be spending my time researching out what sources you are quoting from to asses reliability, etc.

I just tried to assist you in the moment, can we please let it drop?

This is the arrested gent, holding his Private Eye cartoon. I think it's unlikely the police officers would know that was a cartoon joke. They'd just see 'Palestine Action'. It would have been easier if they'd let him show them the cartoon in the magazine he had with him and got a senior officer to decide on the spot whether, as such, it met the criteria for arrest.
