I think it takes a particular kind of thick to be unable to tell that Palestine Action in that placard does not refer to an organisation.
From recent arrests it is clear that the police only have to see the words ‘action’ and ‘Palestine’ anywhere in the vicinity of each other to overreact.
Last week couple of Kent officers threatened someone with arrest as a suspected terrorist because they were holding a Palestinian flag and displaying a placard calling for an end to the genocide. The twisted logic was that the desire to see a free Gaza and end to the genocide there aligned with the wishes of Palestine Action so was therefore support for that organisation.
If I stood on Buchanan Street tomorrow with an Irish tricolour and a placard calling for a united Republic of Ireland, would the police arrest me for supporting the IRA?
You know what? I wouldn’t put it past them now.
