I think it takes a particular kind of thick to be unable to tell that Palestine Action in that placard does not refer to an organisation.

From recent arrests it is clear that the police only have to see the words ‘action’ and ‘Palestine’ anywhere in the vicinity of each other to overreact.

Last week couple of Kent officers threatened someone with arrest as a suspected terrorist because they were holding a Palestinian flag and displaying a placard calling for an end to the genocide. The twisted logic was that the desire to see a free Gaza and end to the genocide there aligned with the wishes of Palestine Action so was therefore support for that organisation.

If I stood on Buchanan Street tomorrow with an Irish tricolour and a placard calling for a united Republic of Ireland, would the police arrest me for supporting the IRA?

You know what? I wouldn’t put it past them now.

"Cabinet ministers urge Keir Starmer to recognise Palestinian state"

This is absolutely shocking state of affairs. As a reminder, here is a map of the Middle East from 90 years ago.
Note - "British Mandate for Palestine"

Hell of a lot changed in the following 30 years or so from that map

Just look at Yugoslavia and USSR

Just watching BBC Newsnight and apparently in the last few hours Macron has announced that at the UN General Assembly in Sept, France will recognise the Palestinian State.

Netanyahu responded predictably.

It has been suggested, I like the idea, they have the land size and inclination

"France 🇫🇷 should carve out a piece of the French Riviera, and create a Palestinian state there.”

Except Macron doesn't speak for the French people

I read somewhere that the UK was prepared to do the same but wanted to do so at the same time as e.g. France. Bated breath folks.

Let’s see if I have this right. Starmer is struggling to recognise the State of Palestine? A State that was created by the UK.
I get that it is inconvenient given the UK’s current choice of friends but that is just an absolution of responsibility.

Lock him up and when he's subsequently found to be complicit in genocide have him burnt at the stake.

'After being called to the Bar, Starmer practised predominantly in criminal defence work, specialising in human rights'

"As such, it appears to constitute an impermissible restriction on those rights that is at odds with the UK's obligations under international human rights law."

Apologies for pedantry, PB, but I think you mean an abdication of responsibility, rather than absolution.

Anyway, yes, agree. I think he's desperate not to do anything substantive other than huff & puff, and he's only just doing the bare minimum of that.
