If you got a warning from the police, then there is no possible offence of wasting police time whether by you or anyone else

also fines for wasting police time are as a matter of policy not issued for someone reporting a potential crime as it would be seen to deter people coming forward when a crime has been committed for fear they, the victim will get a fine

He did not get any punishment from the police, the company he worked for did. Go back and read it again.
